Granola

Happy New Year!

This recipe for granola is truly delicious.  One you try it, you'll never be satisfied with store-bought granola.
 

1 stick butter
1 tsp vanilla
2 Tbsp honey
1/3 cup sesame seeds
1/3 cup wheat germ
5 cups uncooked rolled oats
shredded coconut

raisins
nuts

optional:
dried apricots
dried cherries
sunflower seeds

Melt butter.  Add vanilla, honey, sesame seeds, wheat germ, stir.  Stir in oats and nuts (and sunflower seeds if you use them) to coat.  Bake at 350 degrees on an ungreased cookie sheet (you may need two) until golden, stirring occasionally.  Stir in coconut and cook 5 additional minutes.  Remove from oven.  While still hot, stir in the dried fruits.  Let cool.  Store in airtight container.  Serve with milk or eat it plain.

Warning:  If one of your resolutions is to lose weight, don't try this recipe!
